Produced by the one of the two biggest Malaysian automakers Perodua, Axia is one of the economical vehicle that offers easy driving to its occupants. This hatchback is referred as the Malaysia’s first Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) which built with the concept of 4 E’s (Eco-Friendly, Extra Spacious, Easy Driving and Economical), firmly with the needs of day-to-day Malaysians in mind. This 5-door car was launched on 15 September with the successor to the Perodua Viva. That been said, Perodua Axia is set to be the tenth model of Perodua, henceforth the letter “X” in Axia represents the number ten.
Engine, Mileage & Variants:
The new Perodua Axia comes with three different variants in the Malaysian auto market including Axia, Axia SE and Axia Advance. All of the variants of Perodua Axia utilizes a locally-assembled all-aluminum 1.0-litre engine which is quieter and cleaner enclosing low emissions. Employed with a technologically advanced transmission system named as E-AT (Electronically controlled automatic transmission) results with better performance and decent fuel economy. Anchored with 8-spoke 14-inch alloy wheels, comprising the tyre size of 175/65 R14 which actually increases the effect of sportiness.
The latest evolution of Axia is provided with increased overall dimensions, which leads to a larger interior spaciousness. The employed front semi-bucket seats and rear bench-type seats, both with detachable headrest offers extreme comfort to its occupants. The dashboard embraces the familiar appearance embedded with a decent audio system (Radio/CD/MP3/WMA, USB and Bluetooth for SE variant) and leather covered steering wheel. Also, the Advance variant is equipped with multimedia system which also employs navigation system. In the area of safety and reliability, this 5-door hatchback offers number of safety feature that make you feel more secure and safer during the ride. Its safety aspects includes dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD and BA which stabilizes the braking system at the time of collision, anti-snatch hook appointed at the right side of front passenger seat and solar & security window film tint. Also, the Axia is provided with three different reminder system for seat belt, key and headlights that increases the security aspect of the vehicle.
Perodua Axia has totally done justice to the 4-E philosophy applied by the indigenous automobile manufacturer, it excels in each of the four departments. However, it somehow fails to impress in others. But then considering the price tag associated with the vehicle the omissions of these features is understandable.
