Overview

Introduction:


Nissan Serena is a top-notch MPV launched with its first variant in 1991. Later on, continual modifications has been done to its design line and technical specifications, worked on its every aspect. As a result, the latest variant i.e. Nissan Serena S-Hybrid Facelift version was launched in Malaysia in early January, 2013. This hybrid MPV took over the market giving competition to other vehicles in the class like Toyota Noah, Honda Stepwgn and others. To this revised edition of Serena, exterior detailing have got the attention with revamped headlamps and offered in new colors.

Engine, mileage & variants:


New Serena S-Hybrid is powered with Nissan’s MR20DD 2.0-litre, engine that has direct-injection system and twin continuously variable valve timing control (CVTC) technology. This engine successfully churns out power of 147ps at 5600rpm along with a high torque of 210Nm at 4400rpm packed with CVT transmission and adaptive shift control (ASC). This engine works alongside with the ECO electric motor assisting acceleration count of the vehicle and energy restoration. It consumes less amount of fuel and it delivers 15.2 kmpl, driving under standard conditions.

Exteriors:


Nissan Serena is a five-door minivan with standard dimensions 4700mm X 1735mm X 1865MM (L X W X H) and wheelbase of 2860mm. This prime MPV has ace ratings in offering plenty of space to its occupants due to its massive structure. Aspects like stylish bonnet, front bumper and side moulding design is made to express sense of sophisticated style. Rear LED combination lamp is designed in S-shape providing bright illumination and adding elegance to the car. The doors are made sliding that opens in one touch on both the sides. It also has 16-inch lightweight alloy wheels that are covered with tires of size 195/60 R16.

Interiors:


Entering the roomy interiors of Nissan Serena, you will feel like next-to-home ambiance. It offers more choice to its passengers in terms of flexibility and seating modes. This vehicle has standard seating configuration for 8 passenger wherein, its front seats can be adjusted in 14 different ways in the desired format. While the rear seats has fold, sliding adjustment facility. It has 5-flexi modes for family outings and 6-loading modes to weigh your cargo. There is a 2-DIN audio system with AM/FM, CD-Player, along with AUX-In port. Furthermore, it has 4-Speakers that keeps you entertained over journeys, while its multi graphic upper meter provides you information like speedometer, fuel consumption display, ECO meter, drive navigator and Idling stop timer.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous:


In MPV's, due to load of cargo and passengers, good suspension and braking system is the utmost priority. For the same, the vehicle is outfitted with an independent MacPherson struts suspension in the front axle and torsion beam axle in the rear. While, ventilated disc brakes are fitted to all the wheels. The turning radius of this MPV is 5.7 meters that gives makes it quite easy to take on tight corners and steep turns. Vehicle dynamic control (VDC) and traction control system (TCS) keeps track on steering of the vehicle. It overdo case, this system applies brake pressure to specific wheels keeping the car in track and balanced. Other safety features associated with the MPV includes dual SRS airbag system, hill-start assist, active front head restraints, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist.

Verdict:


This Serena Facelift is revised version of its early predecessors and offers you better deal with the alterations done. It doesn't boost astonishing power to give you better feel, but to haul with the family, it is comfortable and offers ample space equipped with 2.0-litre engine.
