Honda revealed 2018 Odyssey with updated styling

KUALA LUMPUR:  Honda Odyssey has gained a significant response in the market since its introduction and now the Japanese automaker has updated it for the home market. The 2018 Odyssey will be revealed next month with upgraded cabin and exterior features. The all-new Odyssey now gets more defined corner edges at the front and the rear with major changes focused towards the front.


2018 Odyssey Cabin


The 2018 version has received a new front bumper with larger faux air intakes that serve as LED fog lights housings. The dynamic look of the minivan is ensured with a squared-off front bumper. Even the front apron is now carved in a more angular shape that extends from the redesigned center intake. The signature chrome grille has been replaced with a ‘polished metal’ look with thin chrome strips surrounding. The headlights are now accompanied with a new LED daytime running lights. In terms of side profile, the major update is the inclusion of alloy wheel designs.


2018 Odyssey Rear


The cabin has not been upgraded to a great extent but, there are a few changes to its trimmings. It gets new leather and cloth combination seats with a new pattern. The same pattern can be also witnessed on the door cards and sidings. The dash is also finished with new wood-effect with darker highlights. In the higher trim levels, it is equipped with airplane-style Ottoman seats that comes with fold, slide and swivel options.


Under the hood, there will be the same 2.4-litre i-VTEC unit coupled with Earth Dreams technology that helps in achieving optimal fuel efficiency. The particular unit is capable of delivering a maximum power of 175 PS at 6200 rpm and peak torque of 226 Nm at 4000 rpm. The power is transmitted to the front wheels through Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Even the hybrid version is improved to achieve an improved range.


In the home market, all the variants of the MPV will get Honda Sensing safety suite. This new standard package includes Low-Speed Follow, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keep Assist System, Forward Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, and Road Departure Mitigation. In addition, brake-throttle override cuts engine power in a case when both the gas and brake pedals are applied. Airbags, traction, and stability control are also standard across all the variants.
