Review of Tesla Model S

Introduction:

Generations could not have imagined a vehicle so innovative, so refined and so efficient if this unrivaled American automaker, Tesla had not gifted the world with its revolutionary electric vehicle the Tesla Model S. The Model S is unlike anything we’ve seen before. Tesla always comes out shining with a marvel of craftsmanship from its Pandora box creating new benchmarks for its rivals. The TESLA model S is another successor to the electric power line of the company. Model S is an ultimate eco-friendly luxury car with an absurdly fast acceleration. Specially to mention, the car has an aptly named “Ludicrous Mode,” the top-spec and the all-wheel-drive P90D that hits a 100km/h mark in a whooping 2.8 seconds. The luxury electric powered sedan is finally officially coming to Malaysia.

Engine, mileage & variants:

Unlike other cars Tesla Model S has power variants on the basis of battery packs and the motor powered by them accordingly. Malaysia will receive two variants of the Model S, namely 70D and S85. The 70D will proffer a 329 hp along with 524 Nm of torque. The 70D claims a 240-mile range and a mind-blowing acceleration of 0-100 Km/h in 5.2sec. Whereas the S85 variant of the Tesla Model S procures 373hp along with a torque of 445 Nm covering 265 mile with an acceleration of 0-100Km/h in 5.4 seconds.

Exteriors:

Tesla Model S proffers an extraordinary design, the craftsmen working at the Tesla plant have really gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure that the car looks amazing in every way. The efficient aerodynamics allows a smooth air flow around and below Model S to reduce drag, which in turn maximizes battery range. The smart air suspension lowers the car's height at highway speeds to reduce its frontal area. Electronically controlled vents stay closed until sensors detect that cooling is necessary. The front bumper routes air uninterrupted beneath the battery's flat skidplate and past the rear diffuser. The result is a seven seat sedan with the stance of a coupe and supercar aerodynamics.

Interiors:

Model S is truly a driver's car. The cabin of the car combines meticulous noise engineering with Tesla's uniquely quiet power-train to obtain the sound dynamics of a recording studio. The central console of the car is featured with a 17 inch gigantic touchscreen with a plethora of features. This multi purpose screen can open the all glass panoramic roof, customizing the automatic climate control, and changing the radio station all happen with a swipe or a touch. The touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, and steering wheel controls seamlessly integrate media, navigation, communications, cabin controls and vehicle data.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous:

Model S can cruise to high speeds without any fear of the safety, the American carmaker has loaded this electric vehicle with immense safety features. The car is designed from the ground up to be the safest car on the road, as proven by a 5-star rating in all categories of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash test. The car has an unique electric drive-train that sits beneath the car's aluminum occupant cell in its own sub-frame. This unique positioning lowers the car's center of gravity, which improves handling and minimizes rollover risk, and replaces the heavy engine block with impact absorbing boron steel rails. Apart from it the side impacts are met by aluminum pillars which are thoroughly reinforced with steel rails to reduce intrusion. The car also has eight airbags to efficiently cocoon its occupants.

Verdict:

Tesla Model S is a futuristic masterpiece with an enthusiast-grade performance. The has an extraordinary yet pocket friendly power-train coupled with handsome styling and a top-notch cabin. Still, being an electric vehicle range anxiety is a thing with the sudden excursion plans and not so many charging hubs are their in the country to facilitate long trips.
